The present Saarberg A-class carbon mast is built in 3 catagories for sailor weight.
- The soft section goes from 65-75kg
- The standard section: 75-90 kg
- The stiff section 90+kg
- Section dimentions: 60-145mm
- Length: standard 9,04m
- Weight: < 8,0 kg for soft section, approx. 8,3 kg for standard section and 8,6 kg for stiff section.
This is the lightest in each catagory we found to date.

The modern carbon mast has been develloped into a spar which can be adapted to the sail in many ways.
A good carbon mast has the right stifness and should be as light as possible without being too volnerable for breakage.
To acheave this with the Saarberg carbon mast it is built up from different grades of carbon and the application differs along the section. The mast must have an even bend to make life easier for the sailmakers, after all it is made to hold up the sail so we can use its form to devellop the power to drive the boat.
The mast itself is the front edge of the foil and has a foil shape. It is important to have a close cooperation with the sailmaker to develllop a good package. With the fulness of the sail you can stretch the use of the mast down and up.
The mast is relatively soft fore after and is quite stiff sideways. We develloped this style about 5 years ago and it proved to be the way to go to get more control over the top of the sail.
Special sections are made to order, like sub 65kg for the very light sailors and special bend characteristics.
